about me

Cooking to me is both a creative outlet and a time to practice great nutrition. It is a moment of self love for me because it brings me so much joy. I believe that our relationship to how we eat is just as important as what we eat. I'm fascinated by the psychology of eating, the study of the effect of the mind on health and resistance to disease, and all the new research on our microbiome (how our gut bacteria has been shown to affect human emotions).

My Journey With Food And Health

My love for food has always been engrained in me because of my upbringing. Being in a home where I was raised practically in the kitchen with my mom. She would always have me help her and it would bring me so much joy to be able to contribute to our family dinners and how everyone would joyously compliment her with how incredible everything tasted. Creating meals for my friends and family had become my “Love Language”… It was a way for me to show my love to the people I cared about the most.

As I became an adult I started noticing various health issues come up for me. I started having to deal with Auto-Immune diseases like Hypothyroid, Hashimoto’s, and Vitiligo, which was making me feel absolutely awful. I had gained well over 30 lbs, my hair was thinning, my skin would breakout, I would deal with dizziness and the most debilitating panic attacks and anxiety disorder to name a few! I would go to every doctor imaginable and tried a million different treatments, and although I would go through moments of relief, it would always circle back and I would start feeling awful again. I went through so many vicious cycles of this until I realized that nothing outside of me was going to be able to help me. My healing is within me and through this realization I started taking matters into my own hands!

I took my love of cooking and started learning about the nutritional values of the food we eat. I started devoting my time to learning about healing and using food as medicine. I also started practicing a lot of self care through meditating, EFT (Emotional Freedom Tapping), breathing exercises, affirmations, and Prayer!

Through this new way of eating correctly for my body and current health issues, I was able to put a lot of my issues in remission and really start to feel a lot better!

Sure, some days are better or worse than others but because of the knowledge I have now, I am now able to see what my triggers are. I know that I will feel awful for the next day or two after I have sugar, so I avoid it or I know I need 8 or more hours of quality sleep so I will do what it takes to make sure I get a good nights sleep so I can feel better the next day.

We all need to tap into our own intuition and start to listen to what our individual bodies need. When you quite your mind and sit, and ask for help, your answers will start coming through to you and slowly you will start implementing new Foods and Lifestyle changes in order to feel your absolute best.

Seeing the healing within myself inspired me to further my education in Culinary Arts to become a professional chef and soon after graduate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I became a certified Health Coach.

I am here to guide you to your own healing through food and simple lifestyle changes that will bring significant changes in your life.
